Consultation Meeting of House of Representatives Sub-Committee of Social Affairs, Civil Society Organizations and the Lawyers professional Association (SOLLA)
The Somaliland Lawyers Association (SOLLA) participated in a dialogue and information conference organized by the Subcommittee on Social Affairs of the House of Representatives, in collaboration with various community organizations. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and address key social issues, with the goal of fostering development, coordination, and unity in addressing social challenges. The forum provided an opportunity to consolidate views and suggestions aimed at strengthening the regulation of social affairs and ensuring that comprehensive regulations are made available.
As a professional legal organization, SOLLA expressed its interest in interpreting and reforming laws that affect social matters, including those related to HIV prevention and gender representation. The association highlighted the need for laws that facilitate the representation of women and vulnerable populations in councils and positions of authority, ensuring they can access their constitutional rights.
During the meeting, several laws requiring revision and the creation of new ones were discussed. In conclusion, SOLLA expressed gratitude to the members of the Social Affairs Subcommittee for their dedication and to the legal professionals recognized by the committee for their commitment to safeguarding social and political matters in Somaliland.
